I don’t feel the need to use a primer before I put on my foundation when it comes to primers I’ve given them a miss not because I’ve had a bad experience with them but purely because I don’t feel the need to use them. Some beauty gurus feel that using a primer will protect your skin from foundation others say you need it to defuse the appearances of pores so when you apply your foundation it will look flawless. Ok, that might work for other women. The question I have for you today Is your primer with you or against you?.Let me tell you the good the bad and the ugly.

Makeup primer is a base for foundation or face makeup that allows it to go on smoother and last longer. Formulas are available in cream, gel and powder.

The Good

Primers claim to do one or more of the following:

1. Diminish the appearance of wrinkles

2. Help makeup last longer

3. Even out skin tone or make it appear brighter

4. Protect the skin from damages to the environment

5. Keep blemishes at bay

The Bad

Is it plastic on your face?

1.Most people are allergic to or get breakouts from the silicones used in most primers.

2. Top ingredients in primers with properties similar to plastic.

3.Primers are primarily made up of synthetically created, spherical molecules.

4. The particles of which they are comprised could prevent the skin from functioning at the optimal level your skin cant breath.

5.They can cause early ageing of the skin.

So using primers every day is not such a good idea. For me personally, I use it on days when I want to have a face that will last the whole day. This is my 2cents on my reason why I do not use primers that often.Tell me what you like about primers.

  1. I rarely use primers too simply because I don’t find it makes a difference in my makeup application. I will use a primer if it noticeable reduces pores though, but if not I don’t usually bother.
