I have always been a Maybelline girl from the dream matte mousse days which was my favourite foundation for years still is. When Maybelline released the Fit Me Foundations and Powders I was front and centre because of my previous experience with the brand. Well, to cut the long story short I was very much disheartened with the fit me the foundation and powders. Want to find out what I thought about the watch the full review here. So when the fit me concealers came out I was not so keen on trying them. But with much like every makeup junkie, the hype gets the better of you and I brought the concealers.
For the longest time, I even can’t remember using any other concealer then the LA Girl HD Concealers so you can imagine the level of anxiety I had when purchasing the Fit Me Concealers. With the memory of the much disappointing fit me foundation fresh in my mind l took my time in buying into the fit me range.
But they are here and I got them this is what I have to say about the concealers.
Let’s start with the packing it’s not a common packing that you would find in a drug store concealer. The doe foot applicator gives the product a much more high-end look. I would say this was my sealing point I knew it would be a dream to work with using it to highlight or even contouring. It comes in 6.8ml of product & retails for R109.9
Now with that out of the way let talk about what it can do as a concealer. The concealer comes in 12 shades ranging from light to dark with different undertones. With a water base concealer, you sure not have a breakout. It has a medium to high coverage. This is a great plus in my book.
My personal experience with the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer has been fair. It took time to get used to like I’ve said that using that creamy LA Girl this concealer was more on the drying side. When I used it with a foundation that is oil based like the Black Opal Stick foundation it would blend fairly easily. One tip I could give you in working well with this foundation is to not use a very matte eg. The Catrice HD Foundation it will be harder to blend.
There are many ways you can use a concealer in your makeup routine. You can use it as a foundation to spot conceal or to use it a primer for an eyeshadow look. In my one of my recent videos on Products, I don’t like I mentioned these concealers. The point of the video was to find a way to use up the products by developing a makeup routine. Now even though I have these concealers I didn’t reach for them till the video. I use the concealers as an eyeshadow base and to cut my crease.
I was very much happy with how well they work as a primer. The reason that is, it’s how mattify the concealer becomes after it’s been blended out which creates a beautiful solid canvas to build an eyeshadow …just love it. Now the question is will I just re-purchase the concealer to use it as a primer. I think so my LA Girl Conceal will get one less job when it comes to my make up routine.
